CELLO
Michelle Djokic is a Grammy-nominated cellist, artistic director, and arts advocate whose career spans performance, education, and creative leadership. A member of the New Century Chamber Orchestra, she performs widely as a soloist and chamber musician with artists across classical, jazz, and contemporary genres.
She holds a Bachelor of Music and a Master of Music from The Juilliard School. Michelle is Founder and Artistic Director of the Concordia Chamber Players in New Hope, Pennsylvania, and serves as Lead Artistic Advisor of the Carmel Music Society, helping shape innovative, community-centered musical experiences. She is also the founder and artistic force behind SandBox and Musikiwest in Carmel, California—an intimate cultural hub bringing world-class artists, emerging musicians, and audiences together through concerts, film, and education.
Michelle’s playing has been widely praised. A 2018 review in Seattle’s SunBreak wrote of her performance with Emerald City Music: “Bloch’s Prayer… was a moving and beautiful evocation of Jewish life… Her sound had warmth, depth and gentleness.” Through Musikiwest and her broader artistic work, Michelle has brought music to thousands of students throughout Monterey County while presenting internationally recognized performers in programs that emphasize connection, imagination, and shared discovery. Her work is guided by a belief in music as a powerful force for empathy, dialogue, and community.
