The program notes for our June 5-10 concerts with Rachel Barton Pine, written by Dr. Dominique-René de Lerma, are now online! Click here to read them or click here for more information on the concerts.
Dr. de Lerma’s career as a university professor began at the University of Miami, more than a half century ago. He subsequently served on the faculties of Indiana University, Morgan State University, the Peabody Conservatory of Music, and as Director of the Center for Black Music research in Chicago, with guest residencies at Florida State University, Kent State University, Northwestern University, and Virginia State University. He joined the faculty of Wisconsin’s Lawrence University Conservatory of Music in 1995. He is currently also Chief Advisor to the Rachel Elizabeth Barton Foundation and is completing two multi-volume reference works, one on Black opera singers, and the second on the composers.

Winner of REWIND Installation Art Competition Announced!
The New Century Chamber Orchestra is proud to announce that Berkeley-based kinetic artist Reuben Margolin is the winner of our REWIND Art Installation Competition. Mr. Margolin will design a new version of his waves project, customized to the space in the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Forum. On Thursday, November 29, 2007, the New Century Chamber Orchestra will hold its second annual benefit dinner, An Evening Serenade: The Glory of Venice. Click here for full details. We hope you will join us for this memorable event!
As part of our revolutionary concert REWIND in January, the NCCO will display installation art by a local SF Bay area artist. We are holding a competition to determine who will design the installation art. To enter, mail us your resume, portfolio, project proposal with artist statement, and sketch by September 24, 2007. The competition is open to all artists who live within 60 miles of San Francisco.

4-concert subscriptions and flexpasses are now available online and at 415.357.1111 for $152 / $100.
If you are a current subscriber and would like to keep your seats, you have until Monday, July 16, 2007 to renew. After that date, all unclaimed seats will be released to the general public.
